hdparm weirdness
I just tried making some adjustments via hdparm, and the unexpected
happened. I enabled multicount transfers and 32bit w/ sync (dma was enabled
by the 440BX chipset) and things slowed down.
it went from:
# hdparm -Tt /dev/hda
/dev/hda:
Timing buffer-cache reads: 128 MB in 1.10 seconds =116.36 MB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads: 64 MB in 3.49 seconds = 18.34 MB/sec
to:
# hdparm -Tt /dev/hda
/dev/hda:
Timing buffer-cache reads: 128 MB in 3.27 seconds = 39.14 MB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads: 64 MB in 5.32 seconds = 12.03 MB/sec
Anyone else with a 440BX have hints for tuning via hdparm?
