Well, it booted you into a minimal shell so that you can run fsck manually as it suggested. Instead of trying to look at running processes, type
fsck /dev/hdb1at the root prompt. This will run fsck manually on your root partition (I guess).
Then, just exit (logout). Your boxen will reboot automatically. Hopefully, it will work like before. -- Anthony Lau
