update-alternatives --config editor
Debian provides a whole bunch of very nifty update-* scripts.
Some of them are (man -k update-):
update-alternatives (8) - maintain symbolic links determining default
commands
update-binfmts (8) - maintain registry of executable binary formats
update-fonts-alias (8) - compile fonts.alias files
update-fonts-dir (8) - compile fonts.dir files
update-fonts-scale (8) - compile fonts.scale files
update-inetd (8) - create, remove, enable or disable entry in
/etc/inetd.conf
update-ispell-dictionary (8) - Bash script to select a new ispell default
dictionary.
update-menus (1) - generate Debian menu system
update-mime (8) - create or update MIME information
update-modules (8) - (re)generate /etc/modules.conf
update-passwd (8) - safely update /etc/passwd, /etc/shadow and
/etc/group
update-rc.d (8) - install and remove System-V style init script links
update-vfontcap (8) - No manpage for this program, utility or function.
update-xanim-modules (8) - download updated modules for xanim
