Here's what I'd do.

# cd /var/lib/dpkg/info
# egrep "^ +suidregister" *.postinst > /tmp/suidregister-script

Examine the created script.  A few entries will have shell
variables which you'll need to either define and substitute.
Then you can safely run the script.
