something goes currently wrong with linking when the paths to the libc5
libraries are before the paths to the libc6-X11 libraries in
/etc/ld.so.conf. As a workaround move the lines
  /usr/lib/libc5-compat
  /lib/libc5-compat
to the end of this file and run "ldconfig".
