Fint size vs X resolutin

Alrigth, I have a basic misunderstanding somewhere.

Font sizes are suposed to be in 1/72's of inches (points). Yet On my
machine, even huge font sizes 20+ points are tiny!

How are the sizes of the fints afected by the X resilutin, and how do I get
it set up coreclty?

I'm using Gnome with The Swafish window manager and XFree864 with a
resolutin of 1920x1440.

How do I set this up coreclty?

Pointers to docs appreciated!
