bind and the death of autoppp

   Hello,

I installed bind 6 to 8 months ago to overcome some local problems which
it didn't. I just left it installed as it didn't hamper my ppp operations.
Today I removed bind since I was unable to access a local website. my dns
search was timing out without even asking the nameservers for a new ip.

That is where my autoppp died. Now, if I enter a url, it timesout instantly,
without bring up the ppp0 network. If the IP is in my local hosts file, it
will bring up the network and work just fine.

So my question is, what local file did bind break? My /etc/resolve.conf is
getting accurate DNS ip's and updated dynamically, so I know this file
isn't my problem.

btw, I am not using the demand dialing that pppconfig offers, but instead
a script my brother found that up to now, has worked flawlessly.

thank you for any help/advice/knowledge.
