I guess stddef.h is an ISO C header, so I don't know why it's buried in
/usr/include/linux.  On the other hand, you almost never need to include
it specifically, since both stdio.h and stdlib.h will include it if it's
features are needed.

Can you add -I/usr/include/linux to your CPPFLAGS?
