If you use free instead ot top, it shows you (or me):

oskar:~$ free
             total       used       free     shared    buffers  cached
Mem:        128372      99580      28792      72096       2720   36008
-/+ buffers/cache:      60852      67520   <------+
Swap:       192772       1540     191232          |
                                                 /
....the values you want to see. Would be more impressive if I had more
memory.
