Can't create file larger than 1G on console ?

  I've try kernel 2.4.0, 2.4.1-pre8 - 10.

  I can't create file larger than 1G on console (tty1 - tty6 and X11 terminal), but I can
create such file from telent. For the same OS, kernel... only a telnet session can create
large file more than 1G. Or I switch to single user mode, I can create such file ok.

  (use the command: dd if=/dev/zero of=largefile bs=1k count=1500000)

I've tried the same kernel to another machine, use the same debian 2.2r2 linux, it's ok
to create such large file, so I think that is not a kernel problem.

I also try kernel 2.2.18, there is no such problem.

So.... any suggest for this problem ?
