Hmm, what is the trick to get procmail to work or to debug it?

/usr/share/docs/procmail/QuickStart tells me to add |/usr/bin/procmail
to .forward for exim systems. However, I get:

error in filter file: unknown filtering command "|/usr/bin/procmail"

This is my .procmailrc:

PATH=/usr/bin
MAILDIR=$HOME/Mail      
DEFAULT=$MAILDIR/mbox
LOGFILE=$MAILDIR/from
LOCKFILE=$HOME/.lockmail

:0:
* ^TOdebian-user
    | formail +1 -ds >> user

When I save the digests to a file 'mls', and then do:
cat mls | formail -s procmail
nothing happens - no error messages
