Umm, why did you search the web, there's quite a lot of documentation with
mutt itself, and even an online help! Next time, try hitting '?' in index
first. :)

You could use read-thread (^R) to mark threads read, one by one, and in
the process read any interesting ones yourself.
Or you can tag all messages ('T'ag messages matching '.') and then use
tag-read-thread (;^R) to mark all threads read at once.
