You ought to have entries like
postmaster: root
root: your-username-here
in /etc/aliases.

If "root" == "my account", then I strongly advise you not to use
root as your account.
If you've already fixed that, then the other person's advice (i.e. to
do with the system checks themselves) might be appropriate.
