Helix GNOME is not an official part of Debian, so it's not on the
'Official Potato CDs'.

Do you get an error message when trying to log in as a user?
Perhaps, there are some GNOME programs for adding users to the system,
but i don't know. You can easily add users to the system via
'adduser'.

"to Gnome"? Users are added to the system, there is IMHO no special
procedure to let users log in to GNOME.

There should be a point "logout" in you GNOME panel.
