route add -host 127.0.0.1 lo
success (but isn't this supposed to be done by a bootup script ifup?)

ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 up
SIOCSIFFLAGS: Resource temporarily unavailable

Maybe pty/kernel_config problem?
