I just happened to be playing with the same thing today...

I _think_ you do it like this from a bash prompt:

dialog --backtitle "Super Nintendo" --title "Snes9x Options" --shadow --menu
"Which ROM do I load?" 0 0 0 1 "Final Fantasy V" 2 "Chrono Trigger"; echo $?
