building latest tulip

Hey people. I tried to build the latest tulip driver for my LinkSys cards
with 2.2.18pre21, and I got "cannot determine kernel version" from the
pci-scan.o. This worked perfectly with kernel 2.2.12, and is currently humming
along on my gateway/firewall.

I compiled with the -DMODULES -D__KERNEL__ -DMODVERSIONS macros just like
with the 2.2.12 kernel, and the modversions.h header was in fact in the
2.2.18pre21 kernel headers, and all headers were found. Any ideas? The 2.2.12
kernel is working nicely, but I'd think that not being able to use the latest
tulip driver would be a serious issue for a lot of people.
