postgres 5432 problem

I'm not a db user at all but I install postgress and have the same problem,
" Starting Samba daemons :mdbFATAL : StreamServerPort: bind() failed : \
  Adress already in use "

Can u please describe the exact steps to go around this problem ? What
`file-init' has to be modified ?

Thank you for your participation,
FLorentin.
