Hi ! I am using a Potato system and I have got some problems with the locales : I would like to enable the french locale so that programs are displayed in french, but I cannot. I have installed the locale package and tried to set the environment variable LANG to the value "fr" in /etc/profile or in /etc/X11/xinitrc but when I start a gnome session, this variable is set to "C". Is there a solution ? Ben, a rather new Debian user.
