Re: X config problem causes me to have reinstall entire OS--!!newbie



I think the reason it is doing this is because XDM is running and putting you right into X Try ctrlaltf10 that should drop you out to a command prompt. My suggestion would be to remove XDM which you could do my running apt-get remove xdm. This is will let you play with various configs and boot you into a command line everytime. After you get everything back up right if you want to boot right into X again or use XDM you can of course apt-get install xdm. Good luck
