No. It's getting no response to the ATZ. Add this line at the front of
/etc/chatscripts/provider just before the ATZ line:
'' \d
This tells chat to expect nothing, wait one second, and send a return.
This may give your modem time to come out of its stupor. Let us know if it
works.
