Solution 1:

    I use a program called "usershutdown", which I am using from
    my Slackware days 2 years ago. Don't remember where I got it
    from. Can send the source as an attachment in personal mail.
    
Solution 2:

    3 finger salute ! [Ctrl-Alt-Del]
