apt-get update problem

Me again!

Apropos update/upgrade capabilities. Recently my modem-ppp connection
broke, while "apt-get update" was in progress. Since then there seems
to be a problem with "apt-get update", it says:

E: Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

What is the problem?
How to correct it?
Was it triggered by the braking connection?

Thanks
Bernd
