Help (again) with WordPerfect
I have had (for reasons I won't go into) to trash and completely
reinstall everything (potato). I am trying to install WordPerfect 8,
but get an odd error message about the installation directory not being
a "valid installation area". I have checked the permissions:
drwx--x--x, and this seems OK (I am installing as root, which I did
before with no problems). When I forced it to comply, it runs, but
installs only the shlib10, wplib, and wpmacros directories. Nothing
else. I have tried to search elsewhere for /wpbin, but without
success.
Additionally, the graphics come up in greyscale only, and the
supposedly pretty pictures that accompany the installation menu are
gibbled up. I had no problems installing X, and am using 1024x768 and
800x600 displays. I get the same results with both, which is not
surprising.
I am at my wit's end about this. It doesn't make sense.
Does anyone have an idea what's going on or how to deal with it?
TIA
