RE: Debian upgrade problems/perl

I am hesistant to run apt-get -f install, as this is what it shows:

vw1:/usr/local/pkgs# apt-get -f install
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
Correcting dependencies... Done
The following packages will be REMOVED:
  perl-5.005 sendmail at g++ htdig libstdc++2.9-dev libncurses4-dev egcc
libdb2 elm-me+ libc6-dev man-db mailx libpcap-dev
0 packages upgraded, 0 newly installed, 14 to remove and 9 not upgraded.
2 packages not fully installed or removed.
Need to get 0B of archives. After unpacking 25.0MB will be freed.
Do you want to continue? [Y/n] n
Abort.

Do I really need to remove all those packages? I am especially hesistant
about ripping out my current sendmail configuration, but if that's what
needs to be done to upgrade..

Did you run

  apt-get -f install

yet?

If you have, (or you haven't but do and it still doesn't work), try

  apt-get install libc6
