Numbering of /dev/lp* changed with kernel 2.2.

If you will be using kernel 2.2 from now on, just
edit /etc/printcap to change /dev/lp1 to /dev/lp0;
if you want to use either, you can duplicate your
existing printcap entry and change /dev/lp1 to /dev/lp0,
and give it a new name (e.g., newlp as opposed to oldlp).
You can then specify which to use with, e.g.,
$ lpr -Poldlp
