Can I use a DPT Smart RAID VI with Debian?

I'm building a computer with a DPT SmartRAID VI hardware RAID controller. Now
I'd very much like to dual-boot potato on the machine. (I've kinda grown to
like it...)

I know there are RedHat 6.1 drivers on their website, and until yesterday I
had assumed that the archive contained an "alien" kernel module, but it seems
to be made as "driver disk" for use during RH installation only.

1) What is this stuff?
2) How can I possibly extract what I need from it?

3) Can I get potato to use the DPT in any other way?

Thanks guys, help appreciated!

Christian
