Each version has a code name. The code name doesn't relate to whether the distribution is in stable or unstable or frozen. It only relates to the release number. 2.1 is slink (currently stable). 2.2 is potato (currently frozen but will hopefully soon be stable). And woody refers to what I imagine will become 2.3 down the line.
