After my system boots up, its happy for a few hours (last time about 10) but then processes start becoming defunct. Mostly network deamons, some running from inetd, some not. I thin I've seen a defunct bash as well, but that may have been linked to the defunct sshd. What on earth can cause this? I've rebuilt the kernel, but things still die.
