/etc/nsswitch.conf file entries
Hi,
I use DSL with Slink and kernel 2.2.12. My ISP recently _made_ users change the configuration of the Cisco DSL router from " bridging" to "PPP" mode.
After this was done, I was unable to connect/use the ISP's DNS servers. This was corrected by changing the the following line in the /etc/nsswitch.conf file :
netgroup : db files to
netgroup : nis
( It took them a _long_ time to figure this out )
Can someone explain what this was all about :-) ?
What are the " db files " ? I haven't been able to determine all this from the man page.
I'd appreciate any clarification in case I discover something else newly broken on my system.
Thanks,
Howard Mann.
