hard disk error

I get this error when the kernel starts


Partition check:
hda: hda1 
hdb:hdb: set_multmode: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error } 
hdb: set_multmode: error=0x04 { DriveStatusError } 
hdb1 hdb2 
VFS: Mounted root (ext2 filesystem) readonly. 

Linux is in /dev/hdb1 and works fine. I have made a check of the
hard disk and everything is OK. Linux works fine. I have deleted the
partition table several times, but I get that error again. Could someone
tell me what is wrong with the hard disk hdb.
