dump error, help needed!
Hello all;
I'm trying to use dump (feel free to suggest something else) to make a
complete backup of my system on a DEC TZ87 tape drive. Here is what
happens:
# dump -0u -b 10 -d 62500 -f /dev/st0 -L backup\0 -s 301292 /
DUMP: Date of this level 0 dump: Mon Jan 17 21:52:18 2000
DUMP: Date of last level 0 dump: the epoch
DUMP: Dumping /dev/sda8 (/) to /dev/st0
DUMP: Label: backup0
DUMP: mapping (Pass I) [regular files]
DUMP: mapping (Pass II) [directories]
DUMP: estimated 802274 tape blocks on 0.02 tape(s).
DUMP: Volume 1 started at: Mon Jan 17 21:52:31 2000
DUMP: dumping (Pass III) [directories]
DUMP: dumping (Pass IV) [regular files]
DUMP: 43.97% done, finished in 0:06
DUMP: write error 383130 blocks into volume 1
DUMP: Do you want to restart?: ("yes" or "no") no
DUMP: The ENTIRE dump is aborted.
I've tried two different tapes and get the same result. I'm hoping it is
just in the command I used.. Does anyone out there have a TZ87 and can
tell me if that will work or not? Or does someone see something that may
be causing my problem? Anyone?
TIA,
Ron
