[Off-Topic] Asus MB, Faulty BIOS?
I'm the previous poster of the Off-Topic Pentium MB thread. I identified
the MB as a Asus SP97-V. Upon booting, the screen states:
Award BootBlock Bios v1.0
Copyright (c) 1995, Award Software, Inc.
BIOS ROM checksum error
There's no option to enter the BIOS setup, does this meant the BIOS is
fried? Looking at the BIOS chip, I see an Award sticker which has a:
AT29C010A 12PC 9742 imprinted under the sticker.
I can boot into DOS using a system disk as the MB recognizes the 1.44
floppy. Running flash programs off the net (ie AWDFlash, Flash.exe,
Aflash.exe) have all failed. The fail message is : ERROR - Can't find
System BIOS' Hook.
I've looked over various Award and ASUS websites but cannot find any
references to the error messages (checksum and hook ones) I'm getting.
Hopefully somebody has had experience with this. Thanks for all the help
so far.
