>From this point, just install Debian. During the installation, "cfdisk" will appear. Use it to create the partitions you need in the free space you created. It will create the ext2 (82) filesystem for you. It will also allow you to create the swap (83) partition.

( You could use Partition Magic to do this, but it is not necessary)
