[O.T.] Architectures
Hi,
I'm interested in the pros and cons of various hardware platforms for
my next home system. I certainly don't want to start a flame war,
URL's would be great.
This box will be connected to the internet via ISDN or cable "modem"
It will serve as gateway/proxy server for two other boxen (one Linux
one Win95), act as file server and X-client server. It will be used
in workstation mode for 2D and 3D graphic and animation (lite stuff
I'm not going to be doing Toy Story III on it...), perl, java, C
developement (for learning purposes and prototyping) along with
regular "personal productivity" stuff (CBB, Plan, etc.)
The most critical function wil be remote administration via ssh for
Solaris and Red Hat servers at work (though I don't see how this would
be architecture dependent.)
Obviously I'll be installing Debian :)
