There is a long standing problem trying to use egcs to compile
2.0.xx kernels. It has something to do with the way gcc inlines
assembly. The end result is that compiling 2.0.x requires gcc
2.7.2.xx.
You should be able to compile the 2.2.xx kernel with egcs,
however.
