imp (imap) versus pine (console)

Hi,

	I've set a imp web site and I've some strange problems:
	- users can access their account trough imp w/o problem;
	- imp shows the correct INBOX just it was before the first access
with imp;
	- pine can't access the INBOX (/var/spool/mail/$USER) as before.
	This happened after the last sync of my potato system.
	Also, I guess IMP recreated its database since some user data
where removed (contacts, signature, preferences, etc).
	Where can I change (if this is the case) the way imp handle the
INBOX folder so that users can access with both without loosing
/var/spool/mail/$USER?
	Why IMP messed its db w/o asking me?
