Re: Blackdown's jdk1.2.2 v3 does not run....
Hi folks
Looks like I'm answering my own question, in part because I did not
RTFM until after asking. I apologise for this all too common
peccadillo.
This was a no brainer. My libc is older than Blackdown jdk 1.2.2
wants. Quoting from one of the README files:
This is the Blackdown Java-Linux port of the Java 2
SDK Version 1.2.2 Release Candidate 3.
[snip]
Also note that this version needs at least a glibc-2.1.2 based
system with a recent 2.2.xx kernel. This build will not run
with glibc-2.0 or glibc-2.1[.1]. The final release may come
with builds for older glibc versions, but the supported
version will be based on glibc-2.1.2 or higher.
Apparently, I have glibc-2.0.7
So I have two questions:
1) Can I safely upgrade to libc-2.1.2 without going all the way to
Potato? Please point me to the FM on this topic.
2) Is there a JDK 1.2 version that runs under Slink? Would one of
you who said you just untarred the tar ball and set the path to get
the jdk to work -- Please tell me your versions of libc and of jkd
you are using?
