XFree86 3.3.5 and slink
Because of a newer graphics card, after installing Debian 2.1 (slink)
from CDs I had to update my X11 software to XFree86 3.3.5. While most
things seem to work fine, xdm login startup seems to ignore the list in
window-managers, and keeps starting (ugh) twm instead of my indicated
default. The Xsession file /etc/X11 wasn't changed by the X11 update.
I tried creating an ~/.xsession file, which works but creates conflicts
when logging into non-Linux machines (common home dir, multiple
platforms).
Has anyone else ecnountered this problem?
Are there any other means of specifying the default or preferred window
manager, on a per-host (rather than per-user) basis?
