Just realises that this is a duplicate to a post I sent yesterday but that I had messed up my exim .forward file.  Sorry.  My /etc/fstab reads:

Hope this helps with diagnostics.   BTW, hda4 and 9 have to be mounted manually but I guess thats due to them being in the wrong order.
