dont count on it, if your kernel is on the / partition(in most cases it
is) then it won't load(how can it access the raid when it needs a driver
but the driver is on the raid :/ ) best bet is to setup a stand alone
drive and run it as your / partition, when i first setup my raid(raid0) my
/ drive was using only 6mb of hd space. it needs to be a read/write media
for stuff like /etc so i wouldnt reccomend something like a cdrom to boot
from and mount as /. but if the system is real stable you could copy the
6MB or so to a cdrom and have it copy all the data to a ramdisk and use
that as / ..butr that would take some configuration..dont think it would
be worth the trouble.
