Hi Nate,

I am pretty positive that I wasn't using the modeline you mention
above. This is because when I selected the monitor profile in
xf86config, I selected:

   8 31.5 - 64.3; Monitor that can do 1280x1024 @ 60 Hz
                                                   ^^

so I don't think the modeline you mention was being used at all. I think
that the modeline that was being used at all times under Debian was:

# 1280x1024 @ 61 Hz, 64.2 kHz hsync
Modeline "1280x1024" 110 1280 1328 1512 1712 1024 1025 1028 1054

since it seems to most closely match my monitor setting (resolution and
refresh). I don't know a whole lot about XF86 configuration and
modelines so if I am wrong and Nate is right, please let us know!!

Is there any way to check a running X server to find out exactly which
modeline is being used at a given time ??

Ok. I am really clueless about monitor technology. Could you explain the
diff. b/w interlaced and non-interlaced and how and why the interlaced
setting could damage a new, digitally-controlled monitor like mine ?

Thanks.
