I would suggest
16:16 ~ $ cd /usr/share/doc/HOWTO/
16:17 /usr/share/doc/HOWTO $ zless DOS-Win-to-Linux-HOWTO.txt.gz
Yours may be under /usr/doc; the move to /usr/share/doc is in potato.
Only type what's after the dollar sign; I have a busy prompt.
