Installing potato

Can someone please help me. I would like to install potato. I started
with resc1440.bin found under potato subtree. Along the way this thing
needs base2_1.tgz which I know is for slink. What am I missing here? I
have everything on potato downloaded and stored in another Linux box. I
intend to access this via nfs.

I'm a RedHat user trying to move to Debian. I have successfully
installed slink using apt. I would like to install potato because I need
some features in the 2.2 kernel such as better SMP support, megaraid
driver support and IBM ServerRAID driver support(as a patch to 2.2.12).

If someone can point me to some documentation that will help me install
potato. Can I do a fresh install or do I need a package upgrade from
slink to potato. Do I need a different rescue floppy?

Thanks.
