This same question was answered just a few weeks ago. Please refer to

mailing list archives.
Also, when you do this make sure to handle any conflict resolution
screens that come up properly. Just set all items in the screen to match
what you desire (which should be the leftmost of the three symbols to the
left of the package name), and if necessary use shift-Q to exit until you
complete the entire process.
