dselect reads a package list and then allows you to install from that list.
While there may be a way to update the list so that dselect can find it
(someone else may know), it would still be less convenient that simply
using dpkg. And since dselect used dpkg to install the package anyway, why
not skip the middle man?  Your list of files will stay current and the next
time you run dselect it will show the "deb" as installed.
