Vedr: Re: No network?
I've tried IFCONFIG:
lo Link encap:Local Loopback
inet addr:127.0.0.1 Bcast:127.255.255.255 Mask:255.0.0.0
UP BROADCAST LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:3584 Metric:1
RX Packets:51 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX Packets:51 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
Collisions:0
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWadrr 00:60:08:31:22:84
inet addr:192.168.1.3 Bcast:192.168.1.255 Mask 255.255.255.0
UP BROADCAST RUNNING PROMISC MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets 37 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:37
Collisions:0
Interrupt:10 Base address:0x300
When I tried ping 192.168.1.1, which is a windows-pc with ip 192.168.1.1, mask
255.255.255.0 and TCP/IP on the ethernet it gives this result:
IFCONFIG:

As root, type 'ifconfig' and post the output to the list. Knowledgeable
people on the list (not necessarily myself) are pretty good at trouble-
shooting NIC problems using this output.

Hello from a newbie (please be patient!)
I've just installed a std.server.
I have 2 windows machines and the linux box.
I can ping from one windows machine 1 (192.168.1.1) to windowsmachine
2(192.168.1.2)
When I ping the linux (192.168.1.3) - ping times out.
I can ping the linux box from the linux box, but not the windows-machines.
Netmask is set to 255.255.255.0 at all mashines.
Linux-box will be it's own dns
No gateway
Network-ip-address 192.168.1.0 (I think - I don't remember...just accepted the
suggest)
The linuxbox has a eth0 installed with no error-messages in the startup-screen.
What can I do to troubleshoot?
Yours
Henning
