Well, don't know how much help I'll be, but a few questions might be in
order...
What version of Debian are you running?
Do you have Apt installed?
If so, what is the output of 'apt-get check'?
Also, what version of vi do you have installed?
We ought to be able to come up with something. It's just a matter
of figuring out which questions to ask :)
