Since the PS/2 #70 uses the 80386 processor (please correct me if I'm
wrong) it will not support SMP.  The extra socket on the motherboard
is most likely for a 80387 FPU.  I'd suggest installing some more RAM
on the system instead.  You might need special IBM RAM for this
system, but perhaps regular 70-pin non-EDO dimms will work as well.
