[OT] Playing sound file over the modem

Hi,

Sorry for this off-topic post. Does any of you have an idea how I could
implement the following scenario under Linux ?

- have the modem dial some (voice) number
- keep the line open even when answered by a human
- then play some sound file (pre-recorded alert messages) over the modem
line
- even better, then get some form of acknowledgement from the remote
human (voice or DTMF)
- hang up

Thanks in advance for any pointer, hint, suggestion, flame...
